WallpaperCountdown Help

INTRODUCTION

WallpaperCountdown is a utility for adding text to your screen background, including an automatic day countdown.

You can run WallpaperCountdown each time you want to change the background text, or you can let it run continuously while counting down.

You can add WallpaperCountdown to your Startup folder so that it starts whenever your machine starts. (Just locate the “WallpaperCountdown.exe” file, and drag it to your Start > Programs >Startup folder)

WallpaperCountdown starts in your task tray so that it is as unobtrusive as possible.

TRAY MENU

Right-click the WallpaperCountdown icon to access the popup menu.

Open Select this menu option to open the main WallpaperCountdown window. You can also left-click the icon to open the window.

Help F1 Display the online help. Click this button or hit the F1 key.

About Click this button to open a window with information about WallpaperCountdown, including a link to our web site.

Exit Exit WallpaperCountdown.

WALLPAPERCOUNTDOWN WINDOW

Use static text Select this button if you want to see text that does not change on your background. Then, enter the text you want to see in the box.

Use end date Select this button if you want to see a countdown on your background. Then, select the end date of the countdown from the calendar. Be sure to check the ‘Continuously update’ checkbox, and add a WallpaperCountdown shortcut to your Startup folder.

Set Font Click this button to show a font selector where you can set the font name, style and size. The current font is listed in the box directly next to this button.

Set Desktop Color Click this button to change the color of your Desktop Background.

Specify color Select this option to set a specific color for the text (or countdown). Then, click the ‘Set Text Color’ button to choose the color.

Set Text Color Click this button to change the color of the text to a specific color.

From Desktop Select this option to base the text color on the background color. Then, use the slider to make the text color darker or lighter than the background color.

Darker/Lighter Use this slider to make the text color based on the background color darker or lighter.

Use text color When checked, the sample text displayed for adjusting the line spacing will use the selected text color instead of black.

Close/Far Use this slider to change the space between lines. You will see the spacing change in the sample window.

Center on… Select this option so that when the text is displayed on your Desktop, it will be centered.

Tile across.. Select this option so that when the text is displayed on your Desktop, it will be tiled to cover your entire screen.

Stretch to fit Select this option so that when the text is displayed on your Desktop, it will be stretched to fit your entire screen.

Continuously… When checked, WallpaperCountdown will continuously update the background text after being started. This should be checked when using countdown or else the countdown number will not change daily. You should also run WallpaperCountdown at system startup when using the Countdown option. If you are using static text, then you should not check this option.

Close to system… When checked, and you close the window with the ‘X’, WallpaperCountdown will not exit, but instead will minimize to the task tray. Choose ‘Exit’ from the popup-menu to shut down WallpaperCountdown.

Big pic… When checked, and the text is stretched to fit your desktop, a higher quality image will be created before stretching.

Save Click this button to save your changes.

Test Settings Click this button to test your settings. Be sure to move the window so you can see your Desktop background!

Tips When checked, popup tips will be displayed when your cursor hovers over buttons.
